How to calculate Holiday pay in the PH?

Days gone so fast! It’s already “Ber Month”.  Employees are waiting for the annual chant “13th month pay” but before the year ends, holidays will come. It’s about time to plan for vacation because all upcoming holiday and non working days falls on weekdays.

Though there are like relaxed months ahead, some are grappling with deadlines and holidays seem a regular days for them.

Here’s how we can compute our Holiday pay:

WORKING ON SPECIAL HOLIDAY

  • Let say the employee hourly rate is Php 74.00/hour and working 8 hours per day

To determine the employee Special Holiday pay:

  • Special Holiday Pay = (Hourly rate × 130% × 8 hours)
  • Php 769.60 = (Php 74.00 × 1.30 × 8 hours)

WORKING ON REGULAR HOLIDAY

  • Let say the employee hourly rate is Php 74.00/hour and working 8 hours/day

To determine the employee Regular Holiday pay:

  • Regular Holiday Pay = (Hourly rate × 200% × 8 hours)
  • Php 1,184.00 = (Php 74.00 × 2.00 × 8 hours)

WORKING ON DOUBLE HOLIDAY

  • Let say the employee hourly rate is Php 74.00/hour and working 8 hours/day

To determine the employee Double Holiday pay:

  • Double Holiday Pay = (Hourly rate × 300% × 8 hours)
  • Php 1,776.00 = (Php 74.00 × 3.00 × 8 hours)
